The role:

Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

    • Conduct inspections at the various sites
    • Conduct incident and accident investigations according to safety protocols and corporate requirements
    • Participate in safety audits including all logistical arrangements
    • Risk and change Management and control
    • Planned inspections 30, 45, 90 days
    • Co-ordinate safety meetings
    • Provide statistics to management
    • Conduct/Coordinates Risk Assessments
    • Present Induction
    • Ability to train and coach

You will need:

    • Grade 12 or equivalent qualification
    • Recognised Trade Test with 5 years experience (NQF Level 6)
    • SAMTRAC / COMSOC 1&2
    • Diploma in Safety Management course or studying towards National Diploma Safety Management
    • Minimum of 5 years operational experience in health and safety
    • Sound knowledge of the mining industry (underground and opencast) is essential
    • Have sound knowledge of safety systems and standards and high regard to safety, regulations and standards
    • Blasting Certificate will be an added advantage
    • Skills – conflict handling, communication, interpersonal, assertive and good negotiation skills
    • Flexible – operate successfully across disciplines
    • Attentive to detail – ensure all non-operational risks identified and mitigated
    • Self-disciplined – ability to perform within unstructured environment
    • Computer literate with sound knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
    • Be willing to do Standby duties and shift work should it be required
    • In possession of or able to obtain a certificate of fitness
    • Valid K53/Code 08 driver’s license
