Duties and responsibilities:
- Clean the first year chemistry laboratory on South Campus.
- Perform general housekeeping duties in said facilities.
- Clean up chemical spills and broken glassware.
- Prepare the laboratory for practicals.
- Handle large quantities of chemicals.
- Oversee students using laboratory equipment.
- Remove chemical waste from above mentioned labs.
- Assist Professional Officers to set-up and unpack the equipment of graduate students.
- Assist with any additional moving of furniture and cleaning as needed by the Department.
- Be able to judge risks and take adequate measures when dealing with chemicals.
- Good communication skills and the ability to function with ease in the University’s richly diverse working environment.
- Ability to work under pressure when necessary.
- Good physical strength.
- Ability to lift heavy objects.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to work accurate.
- Ability to interact with students.
- Three 3 months’ experience working in a laboratory environment.
